Studies on the eruption of mandibular wisdom teeth in Korean

Abstract
|
|
|
I made a statically investigation on the eruption of wisdom teeth in the Korean male and female in the group from 17 to 26 years of age who visited my private practice during 5 years from 1957 to 1962.
The results were as follows:
1) The total number of investigated were 1004 cases and among them the number of eruption of the left and right mandibular wisdom teeth were 940 cases (93.6%), and not erupted cases were 64 cases (6.4%). And the number of the erupted cases completely was more 3 times than erupted cases not completely.
2) The number of erupted cases of the left and right mandibular wisdom teeth divided according to the age group, 20 years of age group occupied the first class including 250 cases and 21 years of age group was second class including 237 cases out of 940 cases respectively. In the 20 years of age group, erupted in the left side were 120 cases (48. 0%) and in the right were 130 cases (52%) out of 250 cases. And in the 21 years of age group, erupted in the left side were 115 cases (48.5%) and in the right side were 122 cases (51. 5%)out of 237 cases respectively.
3) The number of the eruption of the wisdom teeth divided according to the left and right side, left side occupied 462 cases (49.1%) and right side occupied 478 cases (50.9%) out of 940 cases respectively.
